After the soldiers had withdrawn by climbing the mountain, the presidential guards fired randomly in the rooms the soldiers had previously entered to make the clash appear more intense. They collected their own spent casings to conceal evidence. They agreed collectively, by copying from one another, on the fabricated testimonies they would give.
